Decide to Ride
Getting started
Changing our routine and getting into new habits can be difficult. If you haven't ridden a bike for a while - or perhaps never - here're some helpful tips and information that will hopefully help you get started.
Cycling is a great way to get fit and can help you loose weight too. Why not think about making small changes to begin with. Even if you only cycle one day a week to start with it'll burn off unwanted calories and by taking more exercise you'll give yourself more energy and help keep your heart healthy.
You'll also help the environment especially if you normally travel by car because you'll be reducing your carbon emissions.
Now there are some good reasons to get started.
Here are some things to think about
• Make sure your bike is roadworthy particularly if you haven't ridden it for a while
• Do you need a bit of cycle training or a mentor to give you the confidence to get you started
• Work out the route you are going to take using the increasing cycle facilities that exist in the town
• Is there someone you can cycle with a 'bike buddy'?
