Go-Ride
At the last Olympics Britain did really well in cycling winning seven Gold Medals. Chris Hoy is perhaps the best known winning three 'golds' himself.
But how will we do in 2012 and future Olympics?
Go-ride has been set up by British Cycling to go round schools to encourage cycle racing to find talented youngsters to compete at all levels.
Who knows it could be a Blackpool young person winning a Gold Medal in the future!
British Cycling's development programme for young people provides a fun and safe way to introduce young riders to the world of cycle sport and improves bike handling skills.
Young people try out the various different cycle sports and start enjoying one of the fastest growing sports in the UK today.
For those already involved, and wanting to move forwards, Go-Ride has a new Go-Ride Racing competition programme.
It's easy to start enjoying cycle sport through one of the many Holiday Coaching Programmes or at a local Go-Ride club, there are also Go-Ride Clubs in Schools
These clubs provide high quality coaching in a traffic-free environment. Each school club has a British Cycling qualified coach running the coaching sessions. This can either be an external British Cycling qualified coach (e.g. from a local community club), or a qualified teacher who has attended one of British Cycling's coaching courses. Sessions are run either as an after-school club, or during curriculum PE.
Go-Ride Clubs and currently meet at
• Waterloo Primary School
• Devonshire Primary School
• Lytham St Annes Technology College
